Block diagram
The ES910.3-A module is equipped with an extension slot. This slot can accom
-
modate the ES922.1 CAN FD Module (2 Channels), for example.

CAN interfaces
CAN FD (CAN Flexible Data Rate) is an improved, downward compatible CAN
protocol. It differs from CAN mainly in the expansion of the payload per mes
-
sage from 8 to 64 bytes, higher data rates of up to 8 Mbit/s and longer check
-
sums, which increase the reliability of transmission. CAN FD covers the
demand for a higher bandwidth for networks in the automotive industry. At the
same time, CAN FD nodes can easily be integrated into the existing CAN infra
-
structure.
An 8-pin plug connector on the front panel is assigned to each of the two CAN
interfaces of the ES922.1 module (CAN1 and CAN2 LEMO sockets). The CAN
interfaces are galvanically isolated from one another.
5.2.1
Operating modes
The CAN interfaces of ES922.1 can be configured and operated independently
of one another in the High-Speed CAN (CAN FD and CAN) and Low-Speed CAN
operating modes. The ES922.1 module supports both ISO-compliant and non-
ISO-compliant CAN FD.
The operating mode is selected in the application software and in the web inter
-
face of the ES910.3-A (see chapter 6.3 on
25).
