The current charge status is indicated by two LEDs on the front of the battery
pack (see section 3.1.2 on page 17).
Charging the battery pack at the battery pack interface of the ES1000.3 can
only be prevented by
• interrupting the power supply of the power supply control unit of the
ES1000.3, e.g. by removing the K100 cable, or
• removing the ES1050.1 Battery Pack from the ES1000.3 Housing.
The ES1000.3 is fully operational during charging.
Charging the ES1050.1 Battery Pack at the battery pack interface of the
ES1000.3 Housing is temperature-compensated and works efficiently in a tem-
perature range from 0 °C to +40 °C.
3.4.3 Charging with an External Charger
The ES1050.1 Battery Pack can also be charged independently of the ES1000.3
Housing. A special external ETAS charger is used for this purpose; it is supplied
with mains voltage. This plug-in power supply is connected to the SUB-D con-
nector on the bottom of the battery pack.
The ES1050.1 Battery Pack should be charged with an external charger at
room temperature.
3.5 Operation and Storage
Operating and storing the ES1050.1 Battery Pack at very high or very low tem-
peratures may well considerably reduce its service life.
The ES1050.1 Battery Pack should not be stored for more than 6 hours at low
temperatures (< -20 °C). Storing at negative temperatures is only permissible
when the battery pack is charged > 80%. This is shown by the yellow ”Charge
status” LED on the battery pack (see section 3.1.2 on page 17).
When discharged, the battery pack must be removed immediately from a low-
temperature environment and must be recharged to avoid the battery pack
being damaged.
Note
The ES1050.1 Battery Pack must not be operated, charged or stored on one
of its long narrow sides, either standing or lying. This also applies when the
battery pack is mounted on the ES1000.3 Housing.
