Description

The con ver ter 

FT 9004

 is a fre quen cy  di vi der in a snap-in hou sing  for 35mm rail

moun ting. The unit is able to di vi de  in put  fre quen cies  re spec ti ve ly pul se chains of in -
cre men tal  en co ders. The di vi der  va lue  is  ad jus tab le  by the user. The unit can be used 
for  in put  fre quen cies up to 90 kHz.
The re  are  two  ope ra ting  mo des.  One mode is able to di vi de  two  in put pul se chains
90° out of pha se  ap plied to the in put  chan nels "In put A" and "In put B". A se cond ope -
ra ting mode uses only in put  chan nel "A" for the in put pul se chain. The ot her  in put
chan nel "B" de ci des  when  using  this mode the di rec ti on of the out put pul se chains.
The re  are  two  open  col lec tor  out put  chan nels "Out 1" and "Out 2". At both ope ra ting
mo des the out put  chan nels "Out 1" and "Out 2" are  ge ner ating  ou put pul se chains 90° 
out of pha se,  di vi ded  by the ad jus ted  divider  va lue.
The  in put  chan nels "In put A" and "In put B" are opto iso la ted.  Sour ce  sig nals of at least 
5 mA are nee ded to dri ve the in put  chan nels. The in put  vol ta ge  le vel  can  be set by the
user  by  in ter nal  jum pers to the de si red  in put  le vel of  5 V, 12V or 24 V.
The out put  chan nels  are  iso la ted  from  in put  chan nels as well as from the po wer supp -
ly in put. The out put  chan nels  con sist  of  po ten ti al  free  col lec tor-emit ter  pat hes.  By  that 
the  cus to mer  can  crea te an out put  le vel to his own re qui re ments  using  two  re sis tors
and an ex ter nal po wer supp ly.
The  functio nal  struc tu re of the con ver ter  is  shown in pic tu re 1. The re  are  two  ad jus -
tab le  re sis tor  networks  for  in put  vol ta ge  le vel  ad just ments,  fol lo wed  by opto coup ler
in puts, a fre quen cy  di vi der and the open col lec tor  out puts "1" and "2".
