6.3 Assembling the product

Use one of the connecting cables specified in these instructions
only. The connecting cable must be sterile.
Use a commercially available irrigation tube with Luer-Lock con-
nection. The irrigation tube must be sterile.
Inspect the connecting cable and irrigation tube for damage,
particularly the insulation. Do not use if damaged.
Connect the electrode handle and the connecting cable so that
you notice that they snap together.
Remove the Luer-Lock connection on the irrigation connection
of the electrode handle. Keep the Luer-Lock connection in an
easily accessible place; you will need it again for sterilization of
the product.
Screw the irrigation tube onto the irrigation connection of the
electrode handle. Always connect an irrigation tube to prevent
the risk of a CO

2

leak during surgery when the irrigation connec-

tion is open.

6.4 Connect up the product and select unit settings

Plug the connecting cable into the bipolar socket of the electro-
surgical unit.
Only select unit settings that do not exceed the maximum elec-
trical capacity of the product (HF peak voltage/V

p

max). The HF

voltage that the unit emits depends on the mode used and the
power selected. You can find information about the technical
data of the unit settings in the user manual of the electrosurgical
unit used.
BIPOLAR FORCED COAG or forcedCOAG bipolar mode must not be
used with Erbe VIO because the instrument could become dam-
aged due to the high peak voltage.
