Ascent Combi & Ascent Plus Combi Gas Heat
– PN 10-2099 – May 2020
7
NOTICE
Should overheating occur or the gas supply fails to shut off, do not turn off or disconnect the electrical supply to
the boiler. Instead, shut off the gas supply at a location external to the appliance.
NOTICE
Do not use this boiler if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to
inspect the boiler and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
IN CASE OF NO HEAT
In case of no heat coming from the boiler, perform the following actions or call a qualified service agency for help.
Remove the burner cover and look at the three LEDs on the burner control. If the red LED is on constantly, then
press and hold in the reset button for one second. The burner will then try to relight. If the burner relights
successfully, then no further action is needed.
If the burner goes into lock out again, then press reset again. A maximum of three reset attempts are allowed
during a single call for heat. After three resets from lock out without being able to establish flame, the burner control
will ‘latch up’ and will not allow any further attempts to start the burner.
If normal operation cannot be established within three resets, then do not make further attempts to put the boiler
back into operation.
If still no heat, contact a qualified service agency for help.
ANNUAL MAINTENANCE
The Ascent Combi and the Ascent Plus Combi boilers require an annual tune-up by a qualified service
agency to maintain top efficiency and peak performance and to verify proper performance of all safety devices.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
The Ascent Combi and the Ascent Plus Combi boilers require minimal attention from the user.
- Daily inspect the space around the burner/boiler to verify the area is clean and free of any flammable or combustible
materials.
- Once a month it is recommended that the owner/user inspect the boiler and to watch the operation of the boiler. The
owner/user should:
Inspect flue connections as described below.
Inspect for evidence of water, such as leakage from the safety pressure relief valve.
Verify the pressure gauge on the boiler is reading between 5 psi and 30 psi.
Verify the temperature gauge on the boiler reads no more than 220F at the end of a heating call.
If any of the above items seem unusual or out of the ordinary, then immediately call your qualified service agency.
INSPECTION OF FLUE CONNECTIONS
The Ascent Combi and the Ascent Plus Combi boilers burn gas and produce combustion products that must be
vented outside the house or building.
For chimney installations, there will be a flue pipe connecting the flue outlet of the boiler to the base of the
chimney. The flue pipe connections will be under positive pressure for a few seconds each time the boiler
starts, until negative draft has been established due to hot air rising up the chimney.
Once a month, inspect the flue pipe and connections. Look for evidence of deterioration from corrosion or other
sources. Watch the flue pipes during a startup of the boiler and look and smell for evidence of escaping flue products.
For a chimney installation particularly examine the joint between the boiler outlet and the flue pipe. Also
examine the joint between the flue pipe and the base of the chimney.
