DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
TASK 25-34-80-870-801-A01
1.
Description
A. The Water Boiler heats water to provide hot water from a faucet on the front of the Water Boiler. Refer
to Figure 1.
NOTE:
Refer to Table 2 for a list of part numbers and product distinctions based on the options
selected.
B. The water is heated in a single tank by three immersion-type heaters mounted in the bottom of the tank.
There are two heater power levels available. The low power option uses three 900 Watt heaters. The
high power option uses three 1440 Watt heaters.
C. Drain the Water Boiler by turning the drain valve stem to the open position. To remove as much water
as possible, tilt and shake the Water Boiler.
TASK 25-34-80-870-802-A01
2.
Operation
A. Press the POWER button to start the preheat cycle to heat water in the tank. When the water
temperature is in the 180 °F to 196 °F (82 °C to 91 °C) range, the READY light on the front panel
illuminates.
B. If the water level in the tank is low, the LOW WATER indicator light comes on until the tank is filled.
C. Water is dispensed from the faucet through the aerator. Water flow is initiated by pulling the faucet
handle.
D. The Water Boiler requires supply water from aircraft water system at 20 to 40 psig (138 to 276 kPag)
and 62 ºF to 72 ºF (17 ºC to 22 ºC), with a minimum flow rate of 25 oz (739 ml) per minute.
E. Safety Features
(1)
Low Water Sensor - Tank heaters do not operate if there is not sufficient water in the tank for safe
operation. The LOW WATER indicator light comes on if this condition occurs.
(2)
Pressure Relief - A pressure relief valve is set at the factory to open if the internal tank pressure
goes above 135 to 145 psig (930.79 to 999.74 kPag).
(3)
Tank Heat Control - A control circuit prevents operation of the tank heaters if the external tank
temperature goes above approximately 225 °F (107 °C).
(4)
Thermal Switches - Resettable switches provide redundant over temperature protection by
cutting off input power to the tank heaters if the external tank temperature goes above
approximately 225 °F (107 °C).
