CHEMICAL HAZARDS
Potassium Hydroxyde is used in the electrolyser as the main process liquid (electrolyte). The electrolyte
usually comes pre-mixed with the electrolyser but it can also be purchased as a powder to be diluted
in purified water.
Warning! The device contains chemicals!
Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of all chemicals used before
handling them. All persons mixing, draining, and handling the electrolyte must
be informed about the chemicals and potential hazards.
Attention!
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Avoid contact with
eyes and skin.
If you got in contact with the solution, immediately wash the affected area and
refer to the material safety data sheet of potassium hydroxide supplied with
the electrolyser.
Ensure all material used to store the electrolyte solution is chemically
compatible with it.
In the event of physical contact with the undiluted substance, refer to the material safety data sheet of
potassium hydroxide and follow the instructions below.
First Aid Recommendations
In the event of skin contact, take off contaminated clothing immediately. Wash off
with soap and plentiful water. Consult a doctor.
In the event of eye contact, rinse carefully with plentiful water for at least 15
minutes, and consult a doctor.
If ingested, do not administer anything to people that have fainted. Rinse mouth
with water. Consult a doctor immediately.
