8.3 NFC
NFC (near-field communication) is a communication standard
used to transfer data wirelessly. It enables data to be
transferred between devices that are very close to each other
relatively easily.
›
What is NFC used for?
• Contactless payment
• Establishing Bluetooth connections easily
• Continuous blood sugar monitoring
›
What is the advantage of NFC over other wireless
connections?
As devices have to be very close to each other for an NFC
connection to be established, the danger of data espionage is
extremely low. In addition, the pairing and authorisation process
required with Bluetooth is not necessary with NFC, because the
connection is established immediately and automatically.
