2.8 Calibration and countersinking
Calibration and countersinking of the
extremity of the pipe must always be
performed in order to prevent damage to
the O-ring when the pipe is inserted into
the coupling.
• Where pipes are concealed or embedded in screed
(laid in the floor), thermal expansion can be com-
pensated for by creating an insulated curve at least
every 10m (for example with an insulating foam
sheath or by passing the pipe through flexible tub-
ing).
Note: where the pipes are being used in radiant
circuits (spiral or serpentine for underfloor heating/
cooling), these guidelines do not apply!
2.6 Pressure drops
• Pressure drops in Gerpex, Gerpex RA and Alpert
pipes, as well as all Gerpex press fittings are set
out in the Gerpex System Technical Specification
available for download from the Emmeti website
www.emmeti.com.
2.7 Cutting the pipe
•
The pipe must be cut at an angle of exactly 90° and
perfectly straight.
An oblique cut or one which is not straight will
compromise the result of the countersinking opera-
tion.
•
For diameters greater than 26 mm, it is recom-
mended to utilize a hose cutter.
