Monitoring page 5 will be populated with data if the SBMS is connected to DMPPT450 that in turn is powered by the PV array.
The green DMPPT symbol on the top right corner indicates successful I2C connection to the DMPPT450.
In this current image you can see that TPV1,TPV3,TPV4 and TPV5 are all redirected to battery charging (showed by highlighted units “A” ) while
the remaining TPV2 and TPV6 are used to power the TLD2 with about 14.6A (a 500W DC heating element in this example).
DMPPT450 (Digital Max Power Point Thermal controller 450A) has dual functionality.
One is to take the energy from a large PV array (up to max 14kW possible split in to 6 subarray's) and redirect as much as needed to battery
charging this way a smaller battery capacity can be used to handle a large energy consumption.
Second is to use all the energy not needed for battery charging and store that in to thermal mass (example of thermal mass can be water, concrete,
sand …) . The DMPPT450 will have 6 outputs connected to different size heating elements that will be embedded in your preferred thermal mass
for house heating applications or domestic hot water.
The very low cost solar PV energy together with even lower cost thermal storage makes this the ideal solution for house heating application
competing in therms of cost amortization with natural gas. For details see DMPPT450 user manual.
