5.0 - PRELIMINARY CHECKS
Make sure these operations are carried out with the generator placed on a horizontal and stable surface.
5.1 - Engine Oil
Oil is the most important element that influence the efficiency and long life of the engine.
Use and maintenance manual showning the details of the type of oil to use and the correct oil level for this generator.
WARNING !!
Running the motor with insufficient oil could cause serious damage.
5.2 - Fuel
Please check the fuel and use only clean and water-free fuel. For spark ignition engines it is better to use unleaded gasoline
or gasoline with a low lead content, in order to minimize the deposits in the combustion chamber.
The fuel is extremely inflammable, so during the fuel refilling adhere to the following requirements:
•
Refilling the G.S. in a ventilated area, with the engine off,
•
DO NOT SMOKE and DO NOT use open flames
•
DO NOT overfill the tank because, due to the vibration of the engine, the fuel may leak
•
DO NOT get out the gasoline during filling.
•
Make sure the cap is properly tightened after refilling
•
Prevent direct contact of the fuel on the body and do not breathe vapors. Fuel vapors can easily ignite
•
Check the air filter, make sure that it is in good conditons and free from dust and dirt. To reach the filter consult the
engine user’s and maintenance manual. Do not use the generator without the air filter, the life of the engine and the
generator will be reduced.
•
Prevent direct contact of the fuel on the body and do not breathe vapors. Fuel vapors can easily ignite.
6.0 - GENERATOR START-UP
•
Make sure that no load is connected to the generator
•
Insert the starter for cold start-up (in spark ignition engines)
•
To start-up the generators with electric starting, turn the key in “START” position and release when the engine is set in
motion
•
To start-up the generators with tear starting, pull the knob slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Do not let the
knob to rewind quickly. Accompany it to prevent damage to the starter.
•
When the engine is started, move the choke lever to the normal position (spark ignition engines). When using the gene-
rator at high altitude or at high temperature (see 4.2), the mixing ratio of air-fuel can be too rich, then you have more fuel
consumption and less performance.
