ELAN IP AMP
Low power mode
• If enabled, a zone will take up to 20 seconds to power on, but power is saved .
• This will render the doorbell, if equipped, to trigger after the audio is transmitted .
• Know the front panel L .E .D . color code . It will show if the chassis is in low power mode .
When do I need Multicast?
• Stream limitations are exceeded, typically over four chassis (depends on system use/design) .
• When sending an EL-IPD-PRE-SSI to more than two chassis simultaneously .
Doorbell
When the doorbell is triggered, only six zones can effectively be triggered on a doorbell chime in the time
allotted, or the page may be ending by the time the zone is setup .
You can reduce the operation to make the chimes happen as fast as possible by:
• Set the delay to
0 .0
in the intercom paging settings .
• Not selecting the "Volume control" option in the intercom page settings .
Latency
• We have a 2ms window for allowed latency .
• Audio will mute if the latency is greater than 2ms .
• Caused by network bandwidth, cascading or poor infrastructure .
• Switch configuration, terminations and even patch cables make a difference .
Syncing the Device (EL-IPD-MTX-8CH ; EL-IPD-PRE-MSI ; EL-IPD-AMP-EXT)
Normally, this is performed automatically when any configuration change is confirmed . But many times, this is
incomplete due to packets loss or other network related issues . It is good practice to sync again after any zone
output configuration changes are made and if not operating correctly .
Multicast Devices Connected to a Switch with Unicast ELAN IP Chassis
Multicast devices, most notably video over IP, cannot be on the same switch as an ELAN IP audio chassis
running in unicast . You can isolate the multicast products on a different physical switch . Be sure to configure
the switch settings appropriately .
