Connection and startup
AIR-X BASE
1.
Unbalanced input (stereo), RCA:
This is the standard input for all commercially available con-
sumer electronics sources (e.g. CD play-ers, tuners, line output from televisions etc.), which are
fitted with an analog output. Connect your source here e.g. using the RCA cable supplied (“I”, see
p. 2).
To select this input, press “1” on the remote control.
2.
ELAC WL interface:
You can connect an additional dongle here, e.g. the ELAC Bluetooth dongle.
The dongle is powered from this connector; the output signal from the dongle is then fed into
the AIR-X BASE as an analog signal.
To select this input, press “2” on the remote control.
3a.
Unbalanced input (stereo), 3.5 mm jack:
This is the AUX input, which is particularly suitable for
connecting low-output sources normally fitted with a headphone output (e.g. mp3 players, note-
book computers, small radios, etc.).
To select this input, press “3” on the remote control.
Remark:
If this input (3a) and input 3b are used simultaneously, input 3a takes priority.
3b / 4a.
Optical digital inputs, compliant with S/PDIF standard:
These inputs process digital signals in
accordance with the S/PDIF standard, which are used by most commercially available consumer
electronic devices.
To select the left of the two inputs, press “3” on the remote control. To select the right of the two
inputs, press “4”.
Remark:
If inputs 3a and 3b are both used, input 3a takes priority.
If inputs 4a and 4b are both used, input 4a takes priority.
4b.
USB-B input
for connecting the AIR-X BASE directly to a computer. The computer automatically
recognizes the AIR-X BASE as an external USB sound card and displays it in the system as an “ELAC
USB AUDIO” device.
You do not need to install drivers.
Note:
To guarantee trouble-free operation, please only use the cable provided (“M”). If you con-
nect the AIR-X BASE to your PC via this connection, you do not need the power supply. In this
case, the AIR-X BASE is powered by the PC.
Remark:
If inputs 4a and 4b are both used, input 4a takes priority.
5.
Selector switch for selecting the channel used by the transmitter:
You can choose one of three
possible transmission channels on the transmitter. This function lets you operate up to 3 transmit-
ter / receiver combinations simultaneously in a room. It also allows you to switch to a different
channel if you experience interference on a particular channel. As a basic setting, this switch
should remain at ID “A” for the time being and should only be changed for specific application
scenarios.
6.
Power supply:
This USB socket is used to supply power to the AIR-X BASE.
Only connect the included cable (“H”) and power supply (“G”), which supplies the 5 V/500 mA
power required to operate the AIR-X BASE.
Note
: The power supply unit (“G”) provided also includes interchangeable country-specific mains
plug adapters, that allow the power supply to be connected to mains sockets in different coun-
tries.
