7.3 Depth setting
The drilling spindle has a rotatable scale ring for
setting the drilling depth.
Make adjustments only when the machine is at a
standstill.
1. Press the spindle down until the tip of the bit
rests on the workpiece.
2. Turn the scale ring (25) up to the stop.
3. Reset the required dimension and tighten the
clamping screw (29).
4. After switching on, you can now drill to the
desired depth up to the stop.
7.4 Hinged chip guard
The SB 701 is supplied with a hinged chip guard,
which has to be fitted as follows:
Undo the screw on the chip guard and push the ring
onto the machine spindle as illustrated. Now align
the guard to the front and clamp tight. The height of
the guard is infinitely adjustable. Push up the guard
to change the bit, and push the guard down again
before switching the machine back on.
7.5 Care and maintenance
There is no need to lubricate the bearings of the
SB 701. All the ball bearings are greased for life.
Lubricate all moving parts and threads regularly with
a drop of acid-free lubricating oil.
Use only a brush or rag to clean the machine.
Never use solvents to clean the painted parts.
Treat bare parts regularly with anti-corrosion agent.
