Hydraulic Cylinder
The application of hydraulic cylinders is limited to amphibious excavator with extendable
function only.
When extended, the hydraulic cylinder shaft is exposed to air, water and other solid objects
that can cause corrosion or serious scratch. When the shaft surface is no longer smooth, the
seals could not hold the pressure and then cause hydraulic oil leakage.
Since the shaft is not protected during extension, the risk of corrosion and damage can be
reduced by retracting the shaft during parking. When the shaft is sealed inside the barrel,
the hydraulic oil will protects the shaft from outside contaminants and hence longer the
shaft life and maintain the hydraulic cylinder performance.
Extra care is required if the supplementary pontoons are attached to the amphibious
undercarriage. This is because supplementary pontoons only could be attached to the
amphibious undercarriage during extendable mode and the undercarriage is unable to be
retracted until the supplementary pontoons are removed. During this time, the hydraulic
cylinder shaft must be cleaned each time at the end of daily job. Get the machine out from
water and remove all the objects such as earth, mud, or weed that stick on the shaft and
apply grease or oil at the shaft surface for extra protection.
