HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR KETTLE
Wipe the outer surface of the kettle with a soft damp cloth or sponge. Remove dirt in difficult
areas with a damp cloth and a mild liquid detergent. Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive
means. Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
From time to time, depending on the composition - and hardness - of your water, limescale
deposits will naturally form and usually stick to the heating element, reducing the heating
efficiency. The amount of limescale build-up and the subsequent need for cleaning or descaling
depends largely on the hardness of the water in your region and the frequency of use of the kettle.
The limescale formed is not harmful to health, but if it gets into your drink, it can give you a
powdery taste. Therefore limescale should be regularly removed from the kettle as outlined below.
LIMESCALE REMOVAL
Remove limescale regularly. During normal use this means at least twice per year.
1.
Fill the kettle to the "max" mark with a solution of one part vinegar and two parts water. Turn on
and wait for the appliance to switch off automatically.
2.
Leave the solution overnight.
3.
Dispose of the solution the following morning.
4.
Fill the kettle with clean water up to the MAX mark and let it boil again.
5.
Pour away this boiled water, which will also remove any remaining vinegar residue.
6.
Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water.
