IP Interface Commands
An IP Version 4 and Version 6 address may be used for management access to the
switch over the network. Both IPv4 or IPv6 addresses can be used simultaneously to
access the switch. You can manually configure a specific IPv4 or IPv6 address or
direct the switch to obtain an IPv4 address from a DHCP server when it is powered
on. To ensure that this router resides at a known location in the network, a global
IPv6 address can only be manually configured.
An IPv4 address for this switch is obtained via DHCP by default for VLAN 1. You may
also need to a establish an IPv4 or IPv6 default gateway between this device and
management stations that exist on another network segment.
IPv4 Interface
An IPv4 address is assigned to this switch using DHCP by default. If this address is
not suitable, you can manually configure a new address to manage the switch over
your network or to connect the switch to existing IP subnets. You may also need to
a establish a default gateway between this device and management stations or
other devices that exist on another network segment (if routing is not enabled).
This section includes commands for configuring IP interfaces, the Address
Resolution Protocol (ARP) and Proxy ARP.
