1. Locate the fuel filter in a position that does not
interfere with the air cleaner or any linkage parts and
that can support the fuel filter with the shortest length
of hose possible.
2. Cut the OEM fuel line in the selected location using
either a hacksaw or tubing cutter. This should be done
with the fuel line removed from the vehicle (after
marking the location to be cut).
3. Make sure to file and remove any burrs from the cut
end of the steel fuel line. Also, be sure to thoroughly
clean out ALL metal filings and chips from the fuel line.
4. Install the Edelbrock compression nut over the OEM
steel fuel line, push the special brass adapter fitting
until it is fully seated onto the fuel line, then slide the
compression nut onto the fitting and tighten
(See
Figure 2)
. Use tubing wrenches if possible to avoid
rounding over of the hex nut.
5. Next, position the fuel filter as close as possible to the
special brass fitting noted above.
NOTE:
The filter must face the correct direction.
The end marked “IN” must face the fuel pump.
6. Cut the supplied fuel hose to the proper length. Install
one worm-type hose clamp (supplied) to each end of
this hose and securely push the fuel hose onto the...
fuel fitter and onto the special brass fitting on the
factory fuel line.
Make sure the fuel hose is
completely installed on the fitting and the filter before
tightening the clamps.
CAUTION:
Do not overtighten the clamps or you
may cut into the fuel hose, causing a leak.
7. Measure the required length of remaining fuel hose
necessary to reach the carburetor from the fuel filter.
Route the hose to the carburetor making sure there are
no sharp bends or kinks in the hose. Also, make sure
the air-cleaner will not pinch or interfere with the fuel
hose when it is installed. If the straight fitting on your
Edelbrock carburetor creates an interference problem,
use Air Cleaner Spacer #8092 to provide 3/4”
additional clearance, or replace this fitting with Banjo
Fitting #8089. The banjo fitting allows the fuel hose to
be located tightly along the side of the carburetor for
additional air cleaner clearance.
8. Cut the the remaining hose to the required length.
Install the hose using the remaining two worm-type
hose clamps.
CAUTION:
Do not overtighten the clamps or you
may cut into the fuel hose, causing a leak.
9. Start the engine and check for any leaks before
installing the air cleaner.
Correct any leaks and
reinstall the air cleaner before operating the vehicle.
