ECTIVE IR 140
Overview
Congratulations and thank you for choosing an ECTIVE IR 140 cut-off relay!
The ECTIVE IR 140 cut-off relay prevents the unwanted discharge of your
starter battery. If you have installed a supply battery in your camper and use the
vehicle‘s alternator to charge it while driving, you may be in for an unpleasant
surprise without an isolating relay: Once the vehicle is stationary and you are
using your electrical devices, the reserves of the supply battery will eventually
run out. Then the starter battery used to supply the electrical devices with
power. In the worst case, the starter battery is drained to such an extent that the
vehicle will not start at all the next time you try to start it. The ECTIVE IR 140
prevents exactly this scenario: The supply battery can be charged, but the starter
battery cannot be discharged: Whenever the starter battery reaches a voltage
of 13.3 volts, the relay closes and enables charging of the supply battery. If the
voltage of the starter battery drops below 12.8 volts, the relay opens and thus
prevents the starter battery from being discharged.
Attention! Please read these instructions carefully before installing or
commissioning your ECTIVE IR 140 cut-off relay.
