Fail clockwise (CW) rotation 

When energized, the driven valve 

rotates CCW (viewed from the top of 

the actuator). Meanwhile, the springs 

are compressed. On loss of power, 

the spring returns (unloaded) and the 

driven valve rotates CW.

 

Fail counter-clockwise (CCW) rotation 

When energized, the driven valve rotates 

CW (viewed from the top of the 

actuator).  Meanwhile, the springs are 

compressed.  On loss of power, the 

spring returns (unloaded) and the driven 

valve rotates CCW.
