SHARPENING
BLADES
Level 3.
Tools required:
(2) 10 mm Wrenches, Flat file, Screwdriver
Parts required:
None
WARNING
DANGER
Hedge Clipper Blades are very sharp. Wear gloves to protect
hands.
1. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug.
2. Remove blade stiffener (See "Blade Stiffener Remove/Install" on
page 19).
3. Using slots (A) on bottom of blade, carefully slide blades to
midpoint cutting position to permit sharpening of edges.
IMPORTANT
DO NOT pry against cutting edges of blades to move blades into
sharpening position. Blade damage will result.
4. File each edge carefully. Follow the original shape of the blade.
IMPORTANT
If a power grinder is used, DO NOT allow blade to over heat.
5. Assemble blade stiffener using new blade lock nuts if required.
Tighten blade bolts (B) until snug. Loosen blade bolts 1/2 turn.
Hold blade bolts from turning using 10 mm wrench, and tighten
blade lock nuts (C) with other 10 mm wrench.
6. Lubricate blades. See "Lubrication" on page 18.
IMPORTANT
Blades should only be removed and reinstalled by an Authorized
ECHO Servicing Dealer, otherwise premature wear or internal
damage may occur.
