Read and understand the following notes while planning and performing the installation:
Refer to national and local electrical codes for acceptable external wiring practices.
All conduit components and installation methods must be weatherproof.
For external wiring, use copper or aluminum wire. Wire sizes listed in Table 2 are for copper wiring only. If wire
is run in an ambient temperature greater than 30°C, higher temperature wire and/or larger size wire may be
necessary. Wire sizes are based on using the specified breakers. Reinforced insulation to the mains is required.
Wire ampacities are chosen from Table 310.15(b) (16) of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Specification is for
copper wire with a 75°C rating.
The power input to this equipment uses three wires. The phases must be symmetrical about ground (from a
Wye source) for proper equipment operation.
The Eaton xStorage 400 unit is designed for operation on a grounded-wye source of supply. There is no
additional connection point for a neutral conductor. The output of the xStorage 400 will not directly support
phase to neutral loads.
The standard electrical penetrations are made in the bottom of the enclosure. Refer to paragraph
4.5 External AC Power Wiring Installation for conduit and cable entry location information.
NOTE If conduit routing through the bottom of the unit is not feasible, a side entrance wiring kit
is available. Contact an Eaton service representative for more information, see
paragraph
