Recommended Maintenance Supplies
Servicing
DO NOT USE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL.
DO NOT USE SEWING MACHINE OIL OR DETERGENT
OIL.
Twice A Day:
-Oil emery wheel spindles ("C") with specially compounded
Eastman Oil (242C1).
Daily:
-Blow off entire machine and wipe track surface with dry
cloth (required twice a day depending on material).
-Lubricate knife gears. Grease knife gears using a grease
gun at the fitting located on the side of the knife standard.
Use Eastman Gear Lubricant formula (242C2).
Weekly:
-Check Knife blade and stones for adjustment or replace-
ment.
-Check for any unusual wear and determine why.
-Check Main Drive belts for proper tension or excess wear.
Replace if necessary.
Monthly:
-Check mast, power line and air lines for wear or damage.
Replace if necessary.
-Grease knife gear bearing. Remove knife as described
previously. Remove bearing locknut with spanner wrench
and apply a small amount of Eastman Lubriko grease
(242C2-2) from tube.

To adjust, loosen slotted head screws "A". With fingers, turn
adjusting bushings "B" until Emery Wheels are as close
together as possible without touching and are centered over
the knife. Both wheels should grind the same time when
pressed lightly against the knife and there is no more than
1/32 inch (1mm) clearance between the two Emery Wheels.
Tighten slotted head screws "A".
Emery Wheel Replacement
Place knife guard in down safe position. Remove right hand
grinding wheel and arm by loosening screw "D" and sliding
arm off shaft. Remove slotted head screw "C" and replace
grinding wheel with spindle in right hand arm. Do Not
remove left hand arm from machine. Remove slotted head
screw "C" from left hand arm and replace grinding wheel
with spindle. Reassemble right hand arm to shaft and
adjust wheels to knife as described above. Refer to Page 33
for replacement Emery Wheels.
Fuse Replacement
The Blue Jay is equipped with 7-9 safety fuses and 1 circuit
breaker to protect the electrical circuits. The main Lift
module has 1-3 safety fuse and 1 circuit breaker located on
the frame. The control box has 6 safety fuses located inside.
Disconnect main power source. Take out old fuse and
replace with fuse of identical rating or reset the circuit
breaker.
