Circuit Description

5.5.5 SEM Module

The SEM module (U22) consists of a TI 5416 DSP and serial EEPROM device mounted
on a 1.0” x 0.6” printed circuit board that in turn is mounted on the Logic Board. The
application code resides in the EEPROM and is downloaded into the 5416 DSP after reset.

Operation of the SEM is controlled by the MPC870 on the UI Board through a SPI bus
interface on the 5416 DSP. Data to be encrypted or decrypted is passed to the SEM
through an SSI bus that is connected to the Logic Board 5510 DSP.
