Flash
Press button to toggle between flash modes.
Display Flash mode Description
Flash Off Turn off the flash; this mode is applicable to an
environment with sufficient lights.
Auto Flash The flash fires automatically according to the
ambient; this mode is applicable to
general-purpose photography.
Auto Flash +
Red-eye
Reduction The flash fires automatically with insufficient
lights; the flash emits a precursor-flash before
the main flash fires and removes the red-eye
effect; this mode is applicable to take pictures
of people.
Forced Flash +
Red-eye
Reduction The flash always fires and removes the
red-eye effect automatically.
Slow Synchronize This mode is applicable to take a picture with
night scenes or dark lights. Tripod is
recommended.

Self-timer Mode
Press the Self-timer button to perform the Self-timer function. When the
self-timer is enabled, the preset time (10 seconds) and self-timer mode
indicator will be displayed on the LCD monitor. The self-timer LED starts
blinking (refer to LED indicators on page 16).

Image Resolution
There are 3 resolutions for taking still pictures: 2048x1536, 1600x1200, and
640x480. Set the images with higher resolution for printing. However, this
takes more memory space and longer saving time.

Image Quality
The DV camera provides 3 image quality settings: Fine, Normal, and Basic.
The main difference among these 3 image qualities is the image
compression ratio. For example, Basic quality provides the highest
