MINIMISING SCALE BUILD UP
Follow these few simple steps to minimise scale build up in you kettle.
• Empty the kettle after each use; do not allow water to
stand in the kettle overnight
• Use filtered water instead of tap water
• Descale the kettle regularly, at least once a month, using
a proprietary brand of descaler. In areas of very hard
water descaling may be necessary more often
• When descaling has finished, empty the kettle and rinse
it out numerous times with fresh water, then refill with
fresh water, boil, then discard boiled water
If the kettle is not working correctly, check that:
• You have followed the instructions correctly
• The plug fuse has not blown
• The mains supply/fuse/circuit breaker has not
blown/tripped
• If the powercord is damaged it must be replaced by a
special cord set available from Dualit. This part should
only be refitted by a competent electrician
AFTER SALES SERVICE
Check the following if your kettle is not working before contacting place of
purchase or Dualit Ltd.
• Scale build-up will cause the element to overheat,
reducing its working life. It may also cause the safety
cut-out to operate prematurely, switching the kettle off
before the water actually boils
• As the kettle uses an under-floor type element, lime
scale can only build up on the walls and floor of the
kettle. This is readily seen and should be dealt with
promptly
• Use descaling products suitable for kitchen appliances,
these are readily available online or from most
supermarkets or department stores. Use as per
instructions on the packet
DESCALING
Regular descaling is essential to keep you kettle in good working order.
