Intended use
The Dräger tube has been designed to determine whether formaldehyde is in the air or
in technical gases at the time and place of measurement. The Dräger tube is intended
only as a spot measurement.

Measurement and evaluation
1.
Ensure the measuring site has good lighting.
2.
Break off both Dräger tube ends with the Dräger tube opener. (This may create sharp
edges, so be careful.)
3.
Break the inner glass ampoule by bending the Dräger tube approx. 45° at the point
etched between the two black dots

. Make sure the inner ampoule is indeed
broken. The solid paraffin remains in the ampoule and xylene vapor is released.
4.
Insert the Dräger tubes into the Dräger tube pump. The arrow must point toward the
pump

; otherwise, measurement is impossible!
5.
Suck sample of air or gas through the tube.
6.
Check the overall length of the discoloration.
7.
Multiply the value by factor F to allow for the actual atmospheric pressure.
8.
Remove the Dräger tube and suck in 3 to 4 strokes of clean air to flush the pump with
air after use.

Disposal
The Dräger tube packaging lists information about the order number, shelf life, storing
temperature limits, and the serial number. Dispose of Dräger tubes in accordance with
local state and federal regulations. Keep out of reach of children and unauthorized
persons.

FOLLOW THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
Never use the Dräger tube unless
– you fully understand and strictly observe these Instructions for Use and the Dräger
tube pump's Instructions for Use,
– your employer has trained you how to use the Dräger tubes properly, and
– you have passed a test demonstrating to your employer that you can properly use the
Dräger tube!
The Dräger tube content is toxic/caustic. Do not swallow. Avoid skin or eye contact.
Use the Dräger tubes only for their intended use (see "Intended use" section below)!
Before each measurement, perform a leak test of the pump with an unused Dräger
tube; otherwise, you may get a false reading.
The Dräger tube contains an inner glass reagent ampoule

filled with paraffin and
xylol that must be broken before the measurement; otherwise, measurement is
impossible!
After breaking the inner glass ampoule by bending the outer Dräger tube, check if the
heat shrink wrap around the tube

is damaged
.
If damaged, do not use the Dräger
tube!
Both
ends of the Dräger tube must be broken off before placing the Dräger tube into
the pump; otherwise, measurement is impossible!
When inserting the Dräger tube into the pump, the black arrow on the Dräger tube
must point toward the pump; otherwise, measurement is impossible.
To avoid false readings, never use Dräger tubes after the expiration date printed on
the packaging or that have been stored in temperatures exceeding the limits printed
on the packaging!
Use only Dräger tube pumps since the use of pumps of other manufacturers may
cause false readings!
