2-11 Hose Clamp Preparation
Note:
To prevent injury, wear safety gear when
cutting or grinding hose clamps.
The hose clamps P#(J1000), provided with
your collection system, will fit hose sizes 6”
through 9”. The excess should be cut from the
clamp prior to installing the hoses. Follow the
steps listed to properly install the hose clamps
to your collection system.
Step 1:
Measure from hose clamp’s fastening
end (end with tension screw) to the dimension
specified for your hose diameter and mark the
clamp for cutting. Refer to Figure 2-11a.
Step 2:
See note on Caution above! Cut the
hose clamp at mark determined from Step 1. It
is recommended to use heavy-duty snips or a
cutting wheel. Refer to Figure 2-11b and 2-11c.
Step 3:
Using a flat file or disc grinder, remove
sharp edges from clamp cut in Step 2. Refer to
Figure 2-11d.
Step 4:
Loop previously cut hose clamp end
under and through the clamp’s tension screw.
Next, slide one finishing cap P#(V0040) over
cut end. Refer to Figure 2-11e.
Step 5:
To clamp hose, first slide completed
clamp assembly over hose end. Next, hold
tension screw up while pulling clamp end to
pre-tighten. Then, fold tension screw down
and tighten using 5/16” socket or flat-head
screw driver. See Figure 2-11f.
