2.4.6 CREATE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND RINGTONES
Announcements and ringtones can be created with audio editing software like Audacity
(http://audacity.sourceforge.net/); important is the format of the audio file. The audio samples must be converted
into a compatible format (WAV) and afterwards into a binary file, which can be uploaded onto the OD-Sip Plus
and saved in its flash memory. In the following description we use the software freeware Audacity:
1. Create a sample:
Create the sample by recording an announcement or ringtone directly with Audacity. Connect a
microphone to the PC, click on the record button and record the announcement or ringtone; click the
stop button when you are done. Of course you can copy parts of ringtones or announcements in
Audacity and mix them, without recording through a microphone, too.
2. Convert the sample in the right format:
Click on “File” and then on “export”. Choose “WAV” as data type and select the whished folder where
to save the new file; the name of the file should not be longer than 8 characters. Save the file in the
folder containing Wac2Dat.exe!
3. Convert to binary format:
Open the command prompt and go into the folder, where the executable „Wav2Dat.exe“ is located
(„Wav2Dat.exe“ can be found on the product CD). Then enter the following command into the
command prompt:
Wav2Dat the_sample.wav holdmusic.dat
