2 Purpose of the storage heater
2.1 Functions of the storage heater
A storage heater consumes electricity, usually at night,
and stores the heat needed for the following day in its
storage core. This means off-peak electrical energy is
stored at a time when the power distribution networks
operated by the energy suppliers are not being fully uti-
lised.
In addition, an storage heater can also be used in a
"Smart Eco System" intelligent home automation. This
also enables the system to be operated with minimum
power consumption.
In regions that experience extremely cold outdoor tem-
peratures, the storage heater can be set to store sup-
plementary heat at particular times of day.
However, even if the heater has an option for storage
during the day, the bulk of the electricity is loaded and
stored during the night.
When the storage heater is operating, you may some-
times hear crackling noises. This is entirely normal, and
due to the temperature changing in the storage core.
2.2 Heating up for the first time
As for all new devices, new materials in the heater may
produce a slight smell for the first few days of operation.
Please ensure adequate ventilation.
2.3 Input with the charge control system
The charging of the storage heater is regulated by a
control system which reacts to atmospheric conditions.
The amount of heat to be stored is determined by the
external temperature and the amount of heat still pre-
sent in the heat store.
In this operating mode, turn the input control dial to
maximum charge. i.e. clockwise until it reaches the
stop position. (factory setting).
2.4 Input - manual (manual operation)
If you want to regulate the input charge rate manually,
rotate the input control dial. To do this, remove the cov-
er cap on the right-hand side panel of the storage heat-
er.
Turn the rotary knob to change the amount of heat that
is to be stored.
On very cold days, select setting III (right-hand stop po-
sition), if the temperature outdoors is higher, select a
lower setting.
If the input dial is turned fully to the left (left-hand stop
position) no electricity is loaded (Fig. 2).

2.5 Regulating room temperature
The amount of heat given off by the storage heater is
regulated automatically by the room temperature con-
troller. If the room temperature falls below the set value,
the room temperature controller automatically switches
the storage heater's fan on.
At night-time, or if a room is not being used, the room
temperature should be reduced by about around 4° C.
We do not recommend you reduce the temperature
much further, because this would cool the fabric of the
room too far. If you change the temperature setting, it
will take a while before the room temperature warms up
again. For this reason, remember to leave enough time
(at least 1 hour) after you have reduced the tempera-
ture for the room to warm up again before you use it.
Many storage heaters have an automatic, remote con-
trol function for this.
If the room is not going to be used for a longer period,
remember to use the frost protection setting.
