DigiPoS Millennium Technical Manual
Powered Port Testing
Before removing or re-inserting any of the connectors on the rear of the DigiPoS,
the system must be powered down (with the exception of the USB ports). Failure to
do this may result in severe damage not only to the equipment, but also to the
individual undertaking the work. Significant electrical voltages can be exposed
when a connector is removed and the system powered up.
Please use extreme caution
As each of the COM ports, the 2.5mm Barrel and the Hosiden connector are capable of
supplying power to peripherals, should a peripheral fail to power correctly or show an error
relating to power supply, the voltages supplied to these ports will have to be checked.
Before any in depth testing is carried out, please first check the condition of the relevant
fuse by removing it and testing it out of circuit as this is the first component designed to fail
in the event of a fault.
DO NOT
replace the fuse with another of higher rating other than
specified in this manual. Failure to do this will void the warranty and may also create a fire
hazard.
Voltage Level Checking
If you do not have access to a Multi-meter or you are uncertain how to measure DC
voltages, please contact DigiPoS Systems and DO NOT proceed with the following
section.
Firstly, measure the voltages available on the Power Distribution Board (PDB) and note
these down on the test sheet.
The voltages can be measured by removing a jumper (first noting its initial position) and
then probing the connections as follows:
24
12
5
9
Please check the test sheet for tolerance values.
