5.12 Setting the wheel locks

The distance between the pivot bolt and the tyres
determines the effectiveness of the wheel lock.
When the brake is fully opened, the distance
should be 14 mm.

If your wheelchair is equipped with pneumatic
tyres, ensure that they are pumped to the correct
air pressure level.

The tyre pressure has a strong
effect on the brake function. If
the pressure is too low, the
brakes may not function. The
recommended tyre pressure is
indicated on the tyre sidewalls.
