Basic Functionality
Connecting the EZ-Creator to a computer or laptop
The EZ-Creator should be automatically recognised as a generic MIDI input and output
device as soon as it is connected to a computer or laptop. If you’re using an application that
supports MIDI input, go to the settings and select the EZ Creator as the MIDI INPUT device.
Connecting the EZ-Creator via analogue 5-pin DIN
Every EZ-Creator keyboard comes fitted with a 5-pin DIN port that supports a MIDI OUT
signal so that the EZ-Creator can also be used as a secondary keyboard for other
keyboards and workstations that support this, or to control a synthesizer module.
Powering the EZ-Creator
The EZ-Creator is powered via USB when connected to a laptop or computer.
If you are not using the EZ-Creator with a computer or laptop, then a USB power supply
can be used to power it. This USB power supply must be able to deliver a minimum of
500mA at 5V DC.
Making Sound/Music with the EZ-Creator
A MIDI keyboard like the EZ-Creator cannot produce sound on its own, but sends a specific
signal to another device or software to control the sounds that that device or software is able
to generate. This can be a software package or an external synthesizer.
Using the Editor (CD)
The EZ-Creator Series models come with a special Editor CD that can be used to adjust
some of the details of your controller. For example, you can adjust the MIDI note per key.
Making these adjustments can make it much easier to use your controller with external
hardware that needs to receive specific MIDI messages in order to trigger specific functions.
You can also set up details like the MIDI channel over which the controller outputs its MIDI
data.
Below is a summary of the adjustments that can be made using the Editor CD:
– setting the MIDI channel
– setting the key velocity (velocity/touch sensitivity) in 5 levels
– pedal input settings (CC number, minimum value, maximum value)
– slider/fader settings (CC number, minimum value, maximum value)
General buttons/knobs:
– Enable/Disable function, to lock keys or send out a signal
– CC message setting
– Key behaviour:
