Configuration

10BaseT port and RJ-45 network
cable (crossover twisted pairs or
connection via a hub)

Software: network card driver
and TCP/IP protocol software
For connection on an S

need:

Hardware: (passive) ISDN card
■
Software: ISDN card driver, RAS
adapter software and TCP/IP
protocol software.
Configuration under Windows
Before beginning initial configura-
tion, install the necessary hardware
and matching driver software on the
PC. Follow the installation instruc-
tions supplied with the hardware. In
many cases, the TCP/IP system soft-
ware is installed together with the
driver software for the hardware.
When you have installed the driver
software, proceed as follows:

The following steps are not
necessary under Windows 2000/XP. If
possible, use a network card connec-
tion as network cards are easier to
configure and feature higher data
transfer rates. For more information
please read Connection by Network
Card (LAN) starting on page 51
1. Open “Network Settings” in the
Control Panel of your PC. To do
this, you select the item “Set-
tings > Control Panel” from the
Start menu and double-click on
the “Network” icon. Under Win-
dows NT, select the “Protocols”
tab.
2. Check the list of installed com-
ponents to see whether the TCP/
IP protocol is present. If neces-
sary, install TCP/IP by clicking on
the “Add” button.
3. Select “TCP/IP” from the “Proto-
col/Microsoft” folder and con-
firm your entry with “OK”.
4. Then follow the installation in-
structions displayed.

installing the driver and system soft-
ware.
