4.2 Wireless Communication
The BHT has a wireless module using the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands.
4.2.1 Notes for Wireless Communication
• The 2.4 GHz band used in the BHT travels in a straight line and has a trouble passing through human
bodies and other objects. Pointing the BHT directly at the other wireless devices may avoid
communication failure.
• Using the BHT near microwave ovens, industrial heaters, high-frequency medical equipment, and other
sources using the 2.4 GHz band may interfere with wireless communication.
• Electromagnetic noise from personal computers, refrigerators, and other home appliances may also
interfere with wireless communication.
• Environmental factors that can also interfere with wireless communication are listed below.

Places surrounded by metallic walls

Places subject to strong vibration

Precautions for System Designers

Make sure that the environment is free of the interference factors and capable of wireless
communication before developing the application.

Use the program that resends data when communication failure occurs.

Make sure that the BHT communicates properly with all equipment in the environment where
other equipment using the 2.4 GHz band is already operated or newly added to the existing
system.

If the environment changes (e.g., newly installed household appliances and movement/addition of
shelves or objects), make sure that the BHT communicates properly with all equipment again
before actual use.

Wireless LAN Interference
Industrial, scientific, and medical equipment such as microwave ovens, static wireless stations
(permit required) used for mobile identification in places such as plant manufacturing lines, amateur
wireless stations, and specified low-power wireless stations (no permit required) operate in the same
frequency band as this device.
1. Make sure that no static wireless stations or specified low-power wireless stations for mobile
identification are not used in the vicinity before using this device.
2. Change the frequency or stop the electromagnetic discharge when electromagnetic interference
from this device to a static wireless station used for mobile identification occurs.
