Recovering and Troubleshooting the Managed System

311

Hardware Trouble Indicators

Indications that a module has a hardware problem include the following:

•

Failure to power up

•

Noisy fans

•

Loss of network connectivity

•

Battery, temperature, voltage, or power monitoring sensor alerts

•

Hard drive failures

•

USB media failure

•

Physical damage caused by dropping, water, or other external stress

When these kinds of problems occur, you can try to correct the problem
using these strategies:

•

Reseat the module and restart it

•

Try inserting the module into a different bay in the chassis

•

Try replacing hard drives or USB keys

•

Reconnect or replace the power and network cables

If these steps do not correct the problem, consult the

Hardware Owner’s

Manual

for specific troubleshooting information for the hardware device.
