socket and then disconnect the clamps from the battery.
i The “ B” LED indicates that the battery charger is receiving
power supply.
i Whenever the LED of one of the charging programs flashes,
this means that the connection to the battery is not correct.
Check both the power connection and the clamps.
Warnings for batteries in vehicles
<
Never connect both battery charger clamps directly to the
poles of the battery. Always connect the first clamp to the
battery and the second clamp to a thick part of the body or
the engine far from the battery, fuel tank cap and fuel line.
In this way, the generation of a spark will not create danger.
Connect the battery charger to the power supply only after
performing the operation above.

In order to interrupt charging, disconnect the following in
the order below: the plug from the power supply socket, the
clamp connected to the vehicle’s body, and then the clamp
connected directly to the battery .
Charging program selection
Any of the following charging programs can be selected:
P1) 14.4 Volt charging
Suited for batteries with capacity in the range of 14 - 225Ah:
e.F cars.
P2) 14.7 Volt charging
Suited for batteries with capacity in the range of 14 - 225Ah:
e.F cars.
Some battery producers suggest using this program for batteries
that run at temperatures of less than 5°C.
Charging follows an IIUoIUp cycle with 5 phases with

PHASE 1
Charging is performed with current limited to 3A until the voltage
of the battery is raised above 10.5V ( “D” LED lit up). This phase
is very brief unless the battery is very discharged.
If this phase lasts longer than 6 hours, the battery charger stops
charging and the “ C” LED lights up to indicate that the battery is
defective or that the capacity is too high (more than 225Ah).
PHASE 2
Charging is performed with the maximum current set until the
voltage of the battery is raised above 14.4V or 14.7V depending
on the charging program ( “E” LED lit up). In this phase, the
battery is brought to around 80% of its charge
PHASE 3
Charging is performed at constant voltage until the current
delivered reaches the value of 0.5A: ( “F” LED lit up).

Whenever the battery is not brought to the values requested
in Phases 2 or 3 within 40 hours, the battery charger stops
charging and the “ C” LED lights up to indicate that the
battery is defective or that the capacity is too high (more
than 225Ah).
PHASE 4
End of charging and shift to battery charge level checking
process ( “G” LED lit up). After the battery has been charged
to more than 95%, the battery charger checks the battery’s
voltage every 3 minutes. If the voltage falls below 12.7V (for the
P1 charging program) or 12.9V (for the P2 charging program),
the battery charger shifts to the subsequent phase.
PHASE 5
Maintenance: the battery charger charges with the maximum
current (5A) until the voltage returns above 14.4V or 14.7V
depending on the charging program: ( “F” and “ G” LEDs lit up at
the same time). The next voltage check will be made 3 minutes
after the end of charginF This charge level and maintenance
checking cycle guarantees the minimum leakage of liquid and
prolongs the battery’s working life to its maximum duration.

Make sure that the battery charger has been set with charging
program P1 or P2 before leaving it connected for a long time.
If, during this period, the power supply fails, the charging
desired will automatically resume when power returns. Never
leave the battery unsupervised for long periods of time.
P3) Charging at constant 13.6 Volt voltage /
Power supplier
This program is used to bring a 12V battery that delivers less
than 2V voltage to the voltage required for the subsequent use
of other charging programs.
Charging is performed with constant voltage at 13.6V and a
maximum current of 7A: (
“E”
LED lit up).
The slight overcharge to which the battery is subjected causes
constantly slight leakage of liquid and therefore this is not a
function that optimises the duration of the battery.
In this operating mode, the battery charger can work as a power
supplier for devices that require 13.6V voltage with a maximum
current of 7A. If the absorbed current exceeds 7A, the output
voltage will drop until the overload protection is triggered into
operation to shut off the power supply and the “ C” anomaly
LED lights up.

In this operating mode, the anti-spark and Reverse Polarity
functions are disabled.
P4) Charging at 16 Volt voltage & 1.5 Amp
“equalisation”
This program is used to regenerate batteries that have
underdone heavy discharge cycles (the “ D” LED indicating
extremely discharged batteries stays lit for a long time).
The battery is subjected to a slight overload that distributes the
charge evenly among the cells and eliminates acid stratification
(greater acid density on the bottom of the battery).
Charging is performed with voltage up to 16.0V and a maximum
current of 1.5A for around 4 hours: ( “E” LED lit up). After
reaching the values set, the battery charger shifts to Phase 4
of Charging Program P1 .
i This operating mode must be used at the end of a complete
recharge cycle.

Although 16V charging should not cause problem to the
electronic equipment connected to the battery, in order
to minimise the risk to such equipment, disconnect the
equipment before recharging the battery.

The battery charger cannot begin charging when a 12V
battery delivers a voltage of less than 6V (battery extremely
discharged). Use Charging Program P3 to give a brief
charge to the battery.
i
The battery charger memorises the operating mode in use
at the moment of disconnection.
i Whenever the battery is disconnected during charging, the
battery charger interrupts charging within a few seconds.
Thermal protection
The battery charger is equipped with thermal protection that
gradually reduces the current delivered to 5 Amp whenever the
internal temperature becomes too high.
