6.5.2 Built-in Filter Pump Fails to Pump Oil?

Filter pump

fails to pump

oil.

Press the filter

reset switch.

Turn pump

motor ON.

Does oil

flow?

Conduct

normal filter

operations.

Turn pump motor

OFF. Reset wall

circuit breaker (if

necessary).

Turn

pump ON.

Does oil

flow?

Go to page 24 and

continue

troubleshooting.

Does the pump

motor provide

suction?

Conduct

normal

filter

operations.

Yes

Go to page 23 and

follow procedures for

Rate of Oil Return

Slowing.

If blockage is not in

filter pan or line from

filter pan to the pump,

continue with this

flowchart procedure.

There may be

blockages in the

oil lines

Disconnect oil

return line from the

pump to the fryer.

Pump motor is

clogged or faulty.

Can you blow

air through the
oil return line?

Contact your

Dean servicer.

Submerge oil line into hot

water (over 49°C/120°F).
Keep both ends out of the

water.

Once shortening

has softened,

reconnect oil line

to filter.

Turn pump

motor ON.

Does oil

flow?

Yes

Contact your

Dean servicer.

CAUTION

If water gets into oil lines,

the water will cause

severe splattering when

reconnected to the filter.
