2) Setting Parameters using Telnet or Serial Port Menus
Additional configuration parameters need to be set using Telnet or the serial/modem menu system.
To connect to the switch using telnet, run your telnet client program (provided with your operating system) and connect to the
IP address as set in step one above.
For Windows98: Select Run…Telnet
Connect…192.168.1.254 (or the IP address you set as above)
For Windows 2000 & XP Disable “Local Echo” when using Telnet or you will see each typped character twice.
Hyperterminal can be used as an alternative to Telnet.
For serial or modem connections, the default parameters are
: 19200bps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity (19200,8,n,1).
Set flow control to OFF

Menu System
As soon as you connect via Telnet, or hit the Enter key via the serial port or modem, the following message will be displayed:

The factory default password is:
PASS
This password is case sensitive and can be changed in the setup process. The switch has a security timeout feature. After
2 minutes of no activity, the switch will automatically terminate the session. Should this occur, simply re-connect and re-enter
the password.
Upon entering the password, the main menu is displayed:
