Finding the Thiele /  Small (T/S)  parameters of 
a driver - continued

From the measured value of the diameter, D, we can 
calculate the cone area with this formula 

                         

 

 

 

  

    

 

So for our woofer which measured 10 inches from center of 
surround to center of surround we get: 

      

  

 

 

  

    

 

So we get Sd = 78.54 square inches.  Record this value for 
Sd.   

Note: this is the formula for a round driver.  If the driver is not 
round, compute the cone area as needed.
