Damage to RJ45 plugs/jacks caused by moisture, dust and dirt
If using the delivered “Cat.5e RJ45 inline coupler STP” (Fig. 6 and
Fig. 8) or the “E-DAT modul Cat.6
A
8(8) jack, T568A” (Fig. 7), you have
to wrap the cable/connector transitions with a self-amalgamating
tape to avoid damage to the RJ45 plugs/jacks caused by moisture,
dust and dirt.
For an optimum protection against moisture, dust and dirt, we rec -
ommend the use of an IP67 waterproof and dust-proof RJ45 coupler
or the use of an IP67 outdoor junction box in conjunction with a
waterproof and dust-proof CAT.5e cable gland.
