BLACK BEAR HOIST

6.6 Cautions During Lifting/Hoist Operation

1) Pay full attention to the load and the surroundings at all times when operating the hoist. The

hoist must not be loaded when not in use.

2) Be sure everyone is clear of the load path. Do not lift load over people.

3) Never use the hoist to lift or lower people. Do not stand or sit on a suspended load.

4) Never place your hands/feet under the load. Always be aware of overhead loads.

5) Never lift a load with greater capacity than that of the hoist. Check capacity of the hoist before

use. Also never pull or load from the side.

6) Do not operate hoists with twisted, tangled, or damaged chains.

7) Be certain that Load Chain is tightly pulled. Check the balance of the load by hoisting a little bit.

8) The hoist must hang centrally under the beam or under its suspension point.

9) The load/sling must be properly suspended in the saddle of the hook. Never suspend the load/sling on

the tip or end of the hook.

10) Do not swing/shake a suspended load. Do not cut or weld a load that is suspended in the

hoist.

11) Lifetime of the hoist will be shortened if it is exposed to rain. If used outside, cover the entire hoist

(and chain basket) to avoid rain.

12) It is very dangerous to lift a load by using 2 hoists at the same time as the weight might shift to

one side. Be certain that load is properly balanced and kept horizontal.

13) Stop the hoist immediately if chains are making unusual or excessive noise, blocking over the

load, or binding occurs.
