Owner’s Guide
Battery
•
Remove, clean and store the battery in the upright position, on a non-metal surface, in a cool dry location.
•
Check and charge the battery every 60 to 90 days.
•
Keep the battery in a cool dry location. To decrease the self discharge rate, the temperature must not be more
than 80° F (27° C) or less than 20° F (-7° C).
Engine
•
While the engine is warm, remove the drain plug, drain the oil from the crankcase and change the oil filter. Install
the drain plug and fill the engine with oil. Torque the drain plugs to 22 ft. Lb. (30 Nm).
•
Clean the outside surface of the engine. Paint bare metal or apply a thin layer of rust preventative oil.
•
Add a fuel conditioner or biocide to prevent the fuel from becoming a gel or growing bacteria. See your fuel sup-
plier for instructions. Drain water from the water separator.
Accessories
•
Clean the accessories thoroughly. Repair and paint any damaged or bare metal surfaces.
•
Lubricate all grease fittings and friction points.
After Storage
•
Check and install the battery. If necessary, charge the battery.
•
Check or service the fuel filter and air cleaner
•
Check the radiator coolant level.
•
Check the level of engine oil and hydraulic fluid.
•
Fill the fuel tank with fuel. Bleed the fuel system.
•
Make sure the tires are correctly inflated.
•
Start the engine at 1/2-throttle. Allow the engine to become warm and lubricated.
Run the engine outdoors or in a well ventilated area. The carbon monox-
ide in the exhaust fumes can increase to dangerous levels rapidly.
BELT ADJUSTMENT
Inspect and adjust a new belt after the first ten hours of operation. Check the
belt every 100 hours after the first ten hours.
ALTERNATOR BELT
Adjust the alternator position so that the belt moves 1/4 to 5/16 inch (0.6 to 0.8
cm) with a 20 lb. (89 N) push at the center point between pulleys. Refer to the
engine manual.
If the belt tension is not correct, loosen the alternator mounting bolts and adjust
the alternator until the correct belt tension is set. Tighten the alternator
mounting bolts.
