9. Start the vehicle with the dead bat-

tery and allow it to run for several

minutes before disconnecting the

jumper cables.

10. Remove the jumper cables in oppo-

site order of hook-up (4, 3, 2, 1). Be

careful not to short cables against

bare metal.



NOTE: Have the battery and elec-

trical system checked prior to oper-
ating the vehicle again.

Fuel Filter

This diesel-powered vehicle is equipped

with a high efficiency fuel filter. The fuel

filter should be changed in accordance

with the maintenance schedule or more

often if operated under severe conditions

or winter operation. To change the fuel

filter, use the following procedure.

1. Tilt the box up and remove the left

splash panel; then using an appropri-

ate filter wrench, remove the fuel fil-

ter.

2. Apply a light coat of oil to the seal

ring of the new fuel filter; then install

the filter. Tighten until the seal ring

contacts the filter head; then tighten

an additional 3/4 turn.

3. Cycle the key switch to run two com-

plete cycles (run, off, run, off) to

charge the fuel filter and purge any air

from the system.

4. Check for any fuel leaks; then start

the engine and check for normal

engine operation.

Idle RPM

Do not attempt to make engine idle RPM

adjustments on the diesel engine. If

engine adjustments are necessary, take

the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The

diesel engine requires special tools and

procedures for which your authorized

dealer is equipped and trained.

CVT Air Inlet

This vehicle is equipped with an air inlet

to collect air for the Continuously Vari-

able Transmission (CVT).



NOTE: When servicing clutches

or belt, it is recommended to
inspect and clean the CVT air inlet.

1. Remove the left access panel; loosen

the clamp that holds the snorkel por-

tion to the air inlet.

2. Disconnect snorkel portion from air

inlet; clean and inspect.

3. Install the snorkel to the air inlet and

tighten the clamp securely. Reinstall

the left access panel.
