Chapter 28: Maintenance

WARNING

Installation must only be performed by qualified service personnel.

CAUTION

Before servicing the system, disconnect the main voltage supply.

WARNING

Wear appropriate grounding devices such as an anti-static wristband to service the
system.

1. Disconnect the main voltage supply and ensure the box is completely powered down.

The following steps are to be performed in the base assembly of the EDGE 3-Slot Expansion Box or
EDGE 6-Slot Expansion Box.

2. Locate the fan connector on PCB-420 (Backplane of EDGE 3-Slot Expansion Box) or PCB-421

(Backplane of EDGE 6-Slot Expansion Box).

3. Remove the fan plug from the fan connector on PCB-420 or PCB-421.

4. Remove PCB-422 (Backplane Comm) from the PCB Support close to the fan support.

5. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screws from the plastic fan support.

6. Remove the fan support and fan.

7. Use a Phillips screwdriver to detach the fan from the fan support.

8. Install a new internal fan on the fan support using screws.

9. Use a Phillips screwdriver to screw the fan support.

10.Re-install the fan plug to the fan connector on PCB-420 or PCB-421.

11.Reconnect the main supply voltage, and ensure all equipment powers up.

Replacing plug-in modules

At some point, plug-in modules will need to be changed. Correctly changing the plug-in modules ensures
the system continues to function correctly.
