QZ3 SAFETY FUNCTIONS
It is important to be aware of some built in functions of the QZ3. The camera has built in safeguards to
protect itself from damage, and will alert the user to these functions where applicable.
OVER TEMPERATURE PROTECTION -
Should the QZ3 register an unsafe internal/external operating
temperature, one of the following conditions may occur:
Upon Startup
•
At a high temperature startup (> ~70°C), the camera will flash the power switch light once per
second to indicate a high temperature cool down condition. Under this scenario the camera will not
broadcast. The cool down cycle will continue until the camera’s internal temperature is safe for use
• During cool down, user should keep the camera in a shaded/cool environment and power off the
camera to expedite the cooling process.
• It is best practice to allow the camera to cool off while powered off for at least 20 minutes before
attempting to restart.
During Operation
•
High temperature warning - A warning may appear on the screen alerting the user that operating
temperature is reaching a high temperature (>~60°C).
• User should conclude inspections to prevent loss of data.
• The camera will flash the power switch light five times per second to indicate the warning state.
•
High temperature error - An error may appear on the screen alerting the user that operating
temperature is exceeding the high temperature limit (> ~65°C). After a high temperature error
message, the camera will prepare to shut itself off to prevent damage to internal components.
• User should conclude inspection to prevent loss of data.
• The camera will flash the power switch light twice per second to indicate the error state.
•
High temperature shutoff - After the high temperature error is issued, if the QZ3 is not shut off,
and temperature continues to rise, the camera will shut itself off to prevent damage to internal
components.
• After a high temperature shutoff, the camera will flash the power switch light once per second
to indicate a cooldown cycle, unless turned off by the user. During cool down the camera will not
broadcast.
• During cool down, user should keep the camera in a shaded/cool environment and power off the
camera to expedite the cooling process.
• It is best practice to allow the camera to cool off while powered off for at least 20 minutes before
attempting to restart.
