NOTE: 

Check the upper chute for a cardboard insert 

installed for shipping purposes. If the insert is present, 

remove it before continuing.

Locate the upper chute tube and install the 723-04009A 

chute strap included in hardware pack 689-00340, to the 

upper chute tube using a  710-0924 machine screw and 

712-04064 flange nut provided In hardware pack 689-

00337. See Figure 4-17.

Peel the backing off of the self-adhesive foam strip (721-

04388) that has been included with your grass collector. 

Apply it to the upper chute, flush against the flange as 

shown in Figure 4-18.

Assembling the Discharge Chute Components

1. 

Insert the inner boot bracket into the chute elbow as 

shown in Figure 4-15.

2. 

Install the discharge chute top mounting bracket onto the 

topside of the discharge chute using five (5) 710-0751 hex 

bolts, as shown in Figure 4-15, and securing with three (3) 

736-0270 bevel washers and five (5) 712-3027 flange lock 

nuts, all included in hardware pack 689-00337. 

Note: 

The bolt at each end of the discharge chute top 

mounting bracket also routes through the inner boot 

bracket below. Be sure to secure this inner boot bracket 

when installing the hardware in Step 2. No bevel washers 

are needed for the screws that secure the two brackets 

together.

3. 

Install the chute support bracket into the center two holes 

of the top mounting bracket, as shown in Figure 4-15, using 

two (2) 710-3015 hex bolts and securing with two (2) 736-

0270 bevel washers and two (2) 712-3027 flange lock nuts, 

all included in hardware pack 689-00337. Be sure to mount 

the bracket with the raised tab facing the tractor, as shown.

4. 

Install the (1) 735-0199A rubber bumper, from hardware 

pack 689-00340, into the hole provided on the chute 

support bracket, as shown in the inset of Figure 4-15. 

The bumper should be orientated towards the tractor, as 

shown.

5. 

Install the boot strap, 723-0476, from hardware pack 689-

00340, with the metal wire ends, onto the discharge chute 

elbow using a 711-04069 deck pin and 736-3092 flat washer 

from the same hardware pack (689-00340) Secure the strap 

using a 712-3027 lock nut from hardware pack 689-00337. 

See Figure 4-16.
