The System Status display gives a overview of the entire system, both local and remote unit, the
channel conditions, optical connections, and power supply status. In the above display note that
only a Port 1 card is installed and that all 4 channels (1A~1B) are in service (v) without any errors
from local or remote side. The optical 1 (O1) connection is in service (v) and optical 2 (O2) is in
standby (S) mode. Only one power supply (P1) is active in both local and remote side units.
The display screen will refresh every 5 seconds. Of course if the optical link is completely lost then
no status information will be available from the remote side, all fields will go blank, and the refresh
will take more than 20 seconds.
Another important diagnostic display of the FMUX is the Alarm Buffer display. Note that it is item
three on the root menu. If we press "3" the Alarm Buffer will display.
