Switching the power tool on / off
Switching on:
Press the back part of on / off switch 5 and while
holding it in this position, move on / off switch 5 for-
ward� Press the front part of on / off switch 5 to fix it in
pressed position�
Switching off:
Press and release the back part of the on / off switch 5 �
Design features of the power tool
Brushless motor
Power tool equipped with a brushless motor that pro-
vides the following advantages (compared to the pow-
er tool having a brush motor):
• high reliability due to the lack of wearing parts (car-
bon brushes, commutator);
• increased operating time on a single charge, com-
pared to power tools with carbon brushes;
• compact design and light weight�

signals about activation of
various protective systems of the power tool:
If power tool automatically switched off, multifunction
indicator 4 show which of the protection systems has
been activated:
•
multifunction indicator 4 blinked 1 time - the MOS
tube is working in abnormal way� If this protec-
tion system is constantly activated please contact
CROWN service centre;
•
multifunction indicator 4 blinked 2 times - tem-
perature protection of battery 8 has been activated�
In this situation, let the battery 8 cool or replace
battery 8 before turning the power tool on again� To
switch on the power tool, first turn it off as described
above;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 3 times - the tem-
perature protection of control PCB has been activat-
ed� In this situation, let the control PCB cool before
turning the power tool on again� To switch on the
power tool, first turn it off as described above;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 4 times - working
accessory was stuck during work and locked rotor
protection system has been activated� This prevents
the motor and its related parts from being damaged�
To switch on the power tool, first eliminate the rea -
son for stopping the work accessory, then turn the
power tool off as described above;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 5 times - overload
(overcurrent) protection system has been activated,
because power tool operated in a manner that caus-
es it to draw an abnormally high current� To switch
on the power tool, first turn it off as described above;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 7 times - short
circuit protection system has been activated� This
system is activated when a short circuit in the control
board or in the motor of the power tool� If this pro-
tection system is constantly activated please contact
CROWN service centre;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 8 times - over-
voltage protection system has been activated� This
system is activated when input voltage too high (for
example, if you try to install an unsuitable battery 8 );
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 9 times - low voltage
protection system has been activated� This system is
activated when voltage of battery 8 is too low or bat-
tery 8 is overdischarged - (need to charge battery 8 ) or
battery 8 is damaged (battery 8 needs to be replaced);
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 10 times - the
voltage difference between different cell units inside
the battery 8 is too much (battery imbalance)� Bat-
tery 8 needs to be replaced;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked 11 times - com-
munication is interrupted between the control board
inside the power tool and the controller of battery 8 � If
this protection system is constantly activated please
contact CROWN service centre;
• multifunction indicator 4 blinked during 20 sec-
onds - restart protection system has been activated�
Even if the battery 8 is installed on the power tool when
it switched on still, the power tool does not start� To
switch on the power tool, first turn it off as described
above�
Indicators of the state of battery charge (see fig. 4)
With the push of the button 10 the indicators 11 show
the state of charge of the battery 8 (see fig. 4).
Soft start
Soft start enables smooth start of power tools - the
spindle is being run up gradually with no jerks and
kickbacks; no jump-like load is imposed on the motor
upon switching�
Break rundown
Break rundown stops the spindle of the power tool
within 2 seconds after the power tool is turned off�
Rotation speed stabilization system
The stabilization system maintains the preset RPM
both at an idle speed and under load� This allows for
the smooth advance of the power tool during operation�
Speed selector thumbwheel
Using speed selector thumbwheel 7 , you may select
the required spindle speed (also during operation)�
The required speed is dependent on the material and
can be determined with practical trials�
When operating your power tool at a low speed for a
long time, it has to be cooled down for 3 minutes� To
do it, set a maximum speed and leave your power tool
to run idle�
Recommendations on the power tool op-
eration
Before starting operation switch on your
tool for testing, if the grinding attach-
ments are well fixed and to make sure,
that there is no radial grinding attachment
run - out. If the radial run - out is detected, switch your
power tool off and replace the faulty attachment.
• Switch your power tool on, wait for the spindle to
reach maximum speed and only then start getting the
grinding surface close to the blank treated�
