Using 500R8 In Combination With Your Own AD/DA
Converters
500R8 offers enough I/O to facilitate deep integration with 3rd party converters as well as a
multitude of outboard processors. Not only does each 500 series module feature its own
dedicated balanced output that can be run into 3rd party audio interfaces, but even the
monitoring facilities, talkback, analogue summing and artist mix options of 500R8 can be used
to their fullest effect without utilising 500R8’s internal USB audio interface.
Module Connections
Connect the 8 Module Direct Outputs of 500R8 into 8 spare inputs on your audio
interface. This will allow you to send audio from 500R8’s 500 series modules into the
inputs of your audio interface for recording, monitoring, and processing. You can also
connect the outputs of your audio interface into the module inputs of 500R8 to allow
you to play sources from your interface and out into your 500 series modules installed
into 500R8.
Artist Mixer
Connect the Monitor Output of your audio interface into the DAW 2 Input jacks of
500R8 and switch the DAW Select switch on the front panel to the Daw 2 position. This
will allow you to use the front panel blend controls to balance between the playback
incoming via the DAW 2 Input and 500R8’s internal Summing Mixer. Connecting 500R8
to an audio interface in this way enables the Monitor Controller, Blend Controls, and
Headphone Outputs to function as normal.
Summing Mixer
Connect the Mix Output of 500R8 into 2 spare inputs on your audio interface. This will
allow you to send the summed, stereo mix of 500R8’s internal Summing Mixer directly
into the inputs of your external audio interface. Once connected, you can send audio
from your audio interface into 500R8’s modules to then be summed into a stereo track
and sent back into your audio interface for recording.
